Default Why do couples renew their wedding vows?

Okay so why do couples renew the vows? Is it because things went sour somewhere throughout the marriage and they decided to work things out? or is it to live through another wedding day? or is it just for anniversaries? I know wedding vows don't have an expiration date or anything, it's just that I've never asked and no one's ever told me before.

it's a romantic thing. just revisiting that wonderful day and reaffirming what you have. things haven't gone sour for my hubby and i but we're thinking of running to vegas and getting married again. just to be spontaneous and romantic. also, a lot of times people renew their vows because the first wedding wasn't really a wedding at all. people all the time will have a civil marriage in court and then when they save up money, will do something more fancy.

It's just a way of re-dedicating yourself to the person. It doesn't necessarily mean that anything went bad. My friends are doing it a couple of years from now for their 15 yr anniversary. Even they don't know why they chose that date. They just thought it would be fun & a good excuse to go back to Hawaii where they got married.

I think just as a way to say "After all these years I still love you more than anything" and to show the world that.My husband and I intend on renewing our vows years down the line. We want to do it in Vegas.

It depends by the person. Everyone has there own reason. It can be because a couple wants to relive that moment for example. The list is long....I am not a religious person so marriage does not seem so important to me.
