Has religion created more harm than good?Christians have warred against heretics, blasphemers, other sects, and given just plain bad medical advice, etc.Muslims kill other muslims, hate jews, chop infidels heads off, etc.Religion has been cause for ritual sacrifice, enabled wars by proclaiming God was on their side etc.On the other hand it has founded charity groups.Which is it - more harm or more good?turtle- religion has given exorcisms to people suffering from psychological problems, in the black death of Europe they purified people with smoke and silly costumes, some people appeal to saints to cure cancers instead of doctors, etc.turtle - besides the crusades. Bosnia. Christians killing Christians. Ireland. Christians killing Christians. Every war ever waged both sides claim "God was on their side."

I think the best thing to be said about religion is that its usually a harmless waste of time.

Religion is man made. God is not. God is good. Having a relationship with God is what a true christian does. They arent just religious.

Religion makes people credulous. Or it takes advantage of those who are naturally credulous. That's a bad thing.

You have to understand a few things about people:Bad people do bad things on purpose, knowing its bad.But with religion, good people do bad things on purpose, thinking its good.

Religion does some small amount of good - it gives some people a sense of hope, community etc. But there is nothing good that religion has that a non-believer couldn't have.On the other hand the limited good that religion does is vastly outweighed by the violence, ignorance, hatred and backwardness.

I would argue that it doesn't matter if it is good or bad, but I believe that organized religion is bad, religion in it's purest form is good though
