Religion robbed me of the first 36 years of my life.Free, and always will be now, but I will never stop resenting my childhood indoctrination.

Yes.I was part of a Roman Catholic family - forced into dressing up as Bride of Chucky at 7, and confessing my "sins".Disgusting way to treat a child. Thank goodness I was smarter than any of the morons around me, and never bought a word of it.Congrats to you for your long overdue freedom.

not by my immediate family, my mom took me to church as a kid and told me that she would love me no matter what religion i wanted to follow... but both of my aunts uncles and all of my cousins became hardcore Christians pretty much beat your face in with a bible kind, my cousin is now attending a christian apologetic college and they would always talk about religion to me and how Jesus was the only way blah blah blah, and it unfortunately has driven a rift between me and most of them. although one aunt and uncle i like because last summer that uncle took me to a skillet concert and i like them (like i always say i don't base my choice in music off my religion or lack thereof) but anyways my aunts uncles and cousins always beat into my head about how great god is and when i questioned things they couldn't answer they just replied with the classic goddidit...

Ya, I was raised in the Catholic church. Not only that, but I grew up next to Baptist fundamentalists who were always trying to pull me over to their side. As I took more science courses in school, I developed better critical thinking skills and left my way of magical thinking. Finally, when I was sixteen, I decided that I was an atheist. Of course, it made my mom very angry. For a while, I still went to church with her so she wouldn't get upset, but then I decided that it was wasting too much of my time. So one Sunday, when it was time to go, I just lay on my bed. She told me, "Come on, we're gonna be late!", but I didn't budge. Then she threw a temper tantrum, but I basically told her that the only way she could get me to go would be to drag me. For a while after that, on later Sundays, she tried to get me to go, and finally she just gave up. Now she just announces that she and my sister are going to church just so I'll know where they are.
