Default Household bills? what to expect?

Me and my girlfriend are looking at renting somewhere together, were looking at a 1 bedroom flat for 400/mo but this doesn't include our bills. so i was just wondering if anybody had a list of all the bills we are likely to come across and how much each bill would cost. i know the basic ones (water, electric gas ect) but i'm sure there are other bills that i will forget to put into my budget.any help would be great

Are all the utilities on meters? if so, it might be quite expensive through a metering system. What about the council tax too. If you both have jobs and I assume you do, then you'll manage, but it won't be easy. The thing is, are there enough incomings to offset the outgoings, and leave you with some spare cash for some social life and other pressing needs. If its very tight, you'll struggle to get by on your budget. If you're on set salaries, and have no bonus schemes to be able to save for a holiday, then I wonder. Still you've joined the club called real life in our great and wonderful country. I wish both of you all the very best there is, and may you prosper for all your efforts.givemestrength

Right, if you are renting, you will need to pay the following (Excluding rent)Council Tax - Approx. £100.00/mth (You can check exactly what this would be on you local councils website, find the amount for your flat and divide by 10 as it is paid in 10 monthly installments in each year)Water - Approx £25/mth (May be less if you have a meter)Electric - Approx £20/mth (Gas and electric dependant on what heating you have)Gas - Approx £25/mthBT Landline - £12/mthBroadband - £10/mthDigital TV - £15-£40/mth - Depends on what you want to have!!Contents insurace £10/mthYou do not need buildings insurance - This is part of the landlords responsibilityThese are the usual bills. Then make allowance for:Mobile PhonesPetrolFood shoppingSavingsSpending moneyAny loans you have (Car etc)Credit Card paymentsAnd that is it, as taken from my own house budget..!
