if vitamin supplements state expiry date as "08/2008", does it mean when August

starts or by the time it ends? i have calcium vitamin supplemts that say that they expire "08/2008" and its the middle of August right now so would it be safe to consume these vitamins?

It means they aren't any good by the end of August. After the 31st, throw them away.

Items such as this do not suddenly go bad from one day to the next just because they are a day over the expiry date. Provided they are not opened and are not stored at a high temperature (like in the upper 20's or over) they will last for many years past the expiry date.But legally, if they are stocked in a shop, they are valid until the last day of the month.
