Default What do you call the things on top of knitting needles?

I need to buy something for my sister but she doesn't know what it's called.

I've just heard of them as knitting needle toppers

If it something to keep the knitting on the needles - it is called a point protector. These are easy to find in any craft store. The other 'end' is just that- the End of the needle.
