If you take it at the same time Every day like your suppose to it will be protective 99% of the time and it will take a month cycle of it to be effective. so after your first round and then your period it should be mostly effective!Hope this helps

It depends which pill you are taking but they are most uniformly about 98-99% effective if taken daily at the same time. After a week (7 days) of active pills the pill is fully in effect. Hope this helps!
