to be honest you really dont need to do much mommy cat knows best the most important part is for her to have a clean sorce of water just like with a human mother its very important that she remaines hydrated and make sure she has plenty of food kitten food is best because its high in fat and the things cats need.all you need to do is look after mom and she will do the rest i suggest tho if she is looking tin you can get cat milk for bottle feeding kittens and give her some of that mostly she will want to sleep and stay in her nest and its best to let her get on with it i think you are able to handle kittens after about a week ( in my opinion tho it depends on the mother i handled mine after a few hours and mommy didnt mind) but all the books say one to two weeks if mommy cat isn't intrested in her kittens its best to ask a vet really they can advise you on how to look after the kittens on your own whoch can involve 4 hour feeds and cleaning with cotton wool and water looking after kittens is toungh!!!lastly the sadest part is that you should be prepared to lose kittens it happens for many reasons and is natural (i lost a kitten last year i cried for days the kitten was fine when i went to bed feeding with the rest of the family then when i got up he was dead )so yeah thats what i know hope that helped?
