Default Are rape victims who choose adoption, instead of raising their rapists

baby, considered "wusses"? http://answers.yahoo.com/question/in...AVHuZYFireball said that a rape victim who didn't want to raise the child would be wussing out. Is this a commonly held Christian belief? Does anyone have a verse where Christ would make this type of admonition? And yes, that IS the real fireball. Perhaps thats why she's cloned.

absolutely not. if you aren't in the position to have a baby you shouldn't be forced to because of something as traumatic as being raped. its totally your choice.

First of all, why would any girl want to keep a baby that was due to forced sex? It wouldn't be very easy for her to explain to her child the situation, and the child would grow up wondering who their father was. They wouldn't understand. Rape is probably the worst thing any girl could experience, and why would you want to drag it on? They're not wusses they're giving the child a normal life.

Maybe she'd change her answer if it happened to her. She's made me a mad Kitteh. I rarely get mad at anything here on R&S but that is a new low.

I'm Catholic, and I'd say that if a woman prefers to put her rapist's baby up for adoption, then it's entirely her choice. I wouldn't think any the less of her for it. Think about it: if a woman kept the baby, but was unable to love it because it reminded her of her ordeal too much, that child would have an awful time, so it would actually have been kinder to put it up for adoption.Christ didn't come to give us a whole set of rules to follow, he only asked us to love and respect each other, and to live a just life.

i dont think so...i think its human nature to want the best for your child. the bible says to honor the father and mother not the other way around and it would be offering a good life to a child you didnt plan for.

No I don't think so. i think that they are brave for having the baby. Rape is a horrific crime and the women live with that everyday for nine months. If they keep the baby and resent it they will be more likely to mistreat the child. It is probably in the best interest of both to put up for adoption.

Do not see 2 girls 1 cup. Awful.Okay, so I don't believe they're wusses! I would actually just have an abortion, because I know I'm way too young to care for a baby. I haven't had a college education, and I don't have a job to support me and the baby.I don't think there are many (if any) Christians that believe people are wusses for choosing adoption. They just don't believe in abortion...

No they aren't wusses. The child could grow up and remind the woman of her raper in appearance or personality and she could struggle to accept it. Adoption therefore being a much better choice for the child.
