...puberty, does the hymen go away? ? Let's say a 5-6 year old is sexually abused before reaching puberty and her hymen is damaged, does her hymen get back to normal after reaching puberty or does it stay damaged? And how can one know if the hymen is still there or gone?Where I live, whenever I search the internet looking for information about the hymen, the website would be blocked even if it's purely medical. I really need to know. Thanks a lot.

The hymen is just a thin little piece of skin. If it's stretched or torn, it doesn't grow back. However, bits of the hymen may remain until a woman gives birth to a baby.The hymen is right at the entrance to the vagina, and a girl can look at her own using a mirror.
