Hi there - usually when the yarn is wrapped over the hook from back to front, it is then followed by inserting the hook into the next stitch, etc - so there is one loop over the hook beforehand. If you try to wrap yarn from front to back, then insert the hook into next stitch, etc I'm not so sure that you will achieve the same affect. In the end, it's whatever works for you, like some people hold their hook differently to others ...
