Its a word thing. When you adopted someone in the olden days.....not just in arab culture......they became your biological child. Thats basically the reasoning. We are told no matter what their father is always their father.....the "adoptive" parents might be like a father, but will never be their biological father. People would adopt children and their family would grow and they could then kill off rival families...stuff like that. Their family name would continue and that meant alot. ALso we are told to respect the rights of orphans. Any wealth an orphan has is theirs only. We can invest this money for them, but its never ours. Now if you adopt the child....they are biologically your child...you can take that money. So this is why "adoption" is haram.......Thats basically what the word adoption meant.....back then, you couldn't say that you would adopt a child, but NOT consider yourself their biological father.......the word adoption can't be used. Now in modern times, "adoption" is different in meaning. I"m not sure if that came out well, i wrote something and then my computer restarted.....got a bit frustrated with that.
